Everybody's Favorite Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • Pillsbury™ Baking Spray with Flour
  • 2 cups White Lily® Enriched Bleached All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. HEAT oven to 350°F.
  2. COAT three 8-inch or two 9-inch pans, or a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan with flour no-stick cooking spray.
  3. COMBINE flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Add oil, buttermilk, eggs and vanilla. Beat two minutes at medium speed.
  4. STIR in boiling water until blended (batter will be thin). Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.
  5. BAKE 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  6. COOL in pan on wire rack 10 minutes. Remove from pan. Cool completely on wire rack. Frost as desired.
  7. For a deep, dark cake, use Dutch cocoa powder.
